Rubicon to Premiere in 2010

James Badge Dale

Variety reports that AMC has ordered 12 episodes of new drama Rubicon, a political thriller starring James Badge Dale (24, The Departed) and Miranda Richardson (The Hours). Early reports say the show has similarities to the conspiracy elements of Alias, which just happens to be one of my most favorite shows in recent years. From what I can tell so far, this sounds like a great asset for AMC to add to their growing stable of outstanding dramatic programming. The Variety report targets a 2010 premiere of the new series, which could allow it to fit snugly between the third seasons of Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

24 Day 7: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.

I have watched 24 since the day of the California presidential primary, and the long layoff really sucked.  Normally, waiting this long would have made me really build up the premiere, but it actually had the opposite effect.  I think this is probably because Day 6 was a let down, although that’s probably because Day 5 was my favorite of the series.

It’s really hard to talk 24 without dropping spoilerage, but I’ll do my best.  So far we have the elements of a great season: a slightly far-fetched but very evil villain, a big-time government conspiracy, an emotionally unstable presidential spouse, and a serious ass kicking for anyone who gets in Jack Bauer’s way.  If this two night four hour premiere has done anything right, it has me totally pumped about this new season.

Here’s hoping they can keep this going for the next 20 hours.

24: Redemption

Fox has announced that a preview of the upcoming 24 Season 7 prequel will air this Sunday after an encore presentation of the Fringe premiere.

From the press release:

“Filmed on location in South Africa and Los Angeles, 24: REDEMPTION airing Sunday, Nov. 23 (8:00-10:00 PM ET/PT) on FOX, stars Emmy Award winner Kiefer Sutherland along with new series cast members Cherry Jones, Robert Carlyle, Gil Bellows and Academy Award winner Jon Voight. The two-hour event finds Jack Bauer battling an international crisis, while here at home the nation prepares for a new president on inauguration day. Taking place just a few months before the new day dawns, 24: REDEMPTION will set the stage and raise the stakes for Season Seven, which will debut in January 2009.”
